Seabourn Cruise Line was founded in 1986 under the name "Signet Cruise Lines" by Norwegian private investors Atle Brynestad and Warren S. Titus. The name "Seabourn Cruise Line" was adopted shortly thereafter following objections over the trademark ownership by Signet Oil.
